This risk alert should be assessed with the Analyst Recommendation Test and Estimates Revision Test. If those other alerts are triggered, that will likely serve as an explanation as to why the institutional selling alert is also being triggered.

Institutional data is reported quarterly. Check the Top Institutional Holdings report for the stock to see the as-of date for the data. Take note of institutional selling that does not seem consistent with what you might expect based on estimate and rating trends, which are updated daily. It may be that institutional selling has run its course and that this risk alert will disappear when the data is updated. Examination of price charts can suggest if this is the case. Because institutions buy and sell such large quantities of shares, their moves are often evident in share price trends.
